Antoine Sibierski will take up his position as Sporting Director of RSC Anderlecht with immediate effect. The 51-year-old Frenchman will head the sports department and the day-to-day management of all professional teams (First Team, Futures & Women), while also overseeing the Scouting and Performance departments.
Antoine Sibierski enjoyed a distinguished playing career as an attacking midfielder. He came through the ranks at LOSC Lille and, in the first half of his career, played for teams such as Auxerre, Nantes and Lens. He then made the move to the Premier League, where he played for Manchester City and Newcastle, amongst others. He ended his career at Wigan.
Following his playing career, Antoine gained experience as a coach and technical director, developing a broad perspective on modern football. For the past two seasons, Antoine has served as Football Director at ESTAC Troyes, a club within the City Football Group. Under his leadership, the club embarked on a new direction. Troyes were crowned Ligue 2 champions last weekend and will be promoted to Ligue 1 next season.
CEO Kenneth Bornauw:
“We conducted a very thorough search for a new sporting director. Antoine Sibierski fully meets the required profile.
We were looking for someone with experience as a player or coach at the highest level, with proven sporting leadership and the ability to work closely with players and staff. Someone who can build a competitive squad with a clear identity and structure, and who – in addition to a strong network – also pays explicit attention to the progression of youth players from our Academy.”
Antoine Sibierski:
“It is a great honour to be part of this prestigious club. I have always known RSC Anderlecht since my youth as Belgium’s biggest club, from its renowned youth academy to the European successes. This is a club that must continue to cherish great ambitions.”
“I believe my personal and professional values align well with those of the club, and I want to work with all staff members within the club to give the supporters what they deserve. We need to aim high, but also build squads over the different teams with which the supporters can identify in terms of DNA, mentality and the rich history of this club.”
