Ian Burchnall joins RSC Anderlecht as assistant coach

Ian Burchnall (40) strengthens the staff of the first team. The 40-year-old Englishman will function as an assistant coach to head coach Brian Riemer. He will take up office as soon as his work permit is granted.
Ian first started coaching at the University of Leeds, where his paths crossed with Graham Potter for the first time. Ian also worked as a youth coach at Leeds United Football Club and Bradford City. In 2013, he began his coaching career at the highest level as an assistant coach at Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08. After one year, he moved to Norwegian top club Viking FK, where he worked for two years as assistant-coach under Kjell Jonevret. in 2016, he took over as head coach for the first time.
In the summer of 2018, Ian was appointed head coach of Swedish side Östersund, where he succeeded Graham Potter. After two seasons with the Swedish side, he returned to his homeland in 2021 to become head coach at Notts County and Forest Green Rovers.
